What should I wear to a wedding?

Here's what you can wear. One evening wedding, three ways to dress for it.

Three looks for an evening wedding

Two rules, and neither of them is on the invite: don't upstage the couple, and don't be miserable by 11pm. Evening weddings want fabric with some weight to it and a shoe you can still stand in after the speeches.

An emerald satin cowl-neck midi dress worn with gold block-heel sandals

The satin midi

Go with this one if you want the easy answer. Emerald satin catches the light all evening, and the block heel means you can stand through the speeches and still dance after. Just keep anything near white out of it.

A midnight blue tuxedo-style trouser suit with satin lapels worn over a silk camisole

The tuxedo suit

Not a dress person? Wear the suit. Midnight blue with satin lapels is as formal as the room needs, the silk camisole stops it feeling like work, and heeled mules finish it off.

A plum velvet wide-leg jumpsuit worn with strappy heeled sandals

The velvet jumpsuit

This is the one I would pick if you want to look dressed and then forget about it. Plum velvet, a wide leg, strappy heels. As dressed as a gown, with no skirt to hold out of the way all night.
